Workshop Description:
This is an interactive course that focuses on the development of tools for listening to the body mind connection. We will study integral anatomy, body mechanics, self and partner massage techniques and fundamental Yoga poses. We will reflect on and engage with what it means to heal, how we perceive pain in our bodies and how awareness and practice can foster compassion and release.
About the Instructor:
Laub (b. 1986) lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Laub works in the traditional craft mediums of glass blowing, ceramics and textiles. He teaches ceramics at UCLA and is a massage therapist. Throughout all the work Laub does he is asking the questions, what does it mean to live in a body? How do we learn to heal in these bodies? How is healing expressed? In Laub’s last show in Los Angeles, Let Me Touch You at Sebastian Gladstone Gallery (2023), he represented the different systems of the body, the four elements of life and spirit through large thrown and carved ceramic vessels, quilted tapestries and blown glass sculptures. He has shown at Visitor Welcome Center in Los Angeles and Commonwealth and Council in Los Angeles. Laub holds an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design and a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. He studied glass design at the Royal Danish Academy in Denmark. He received his massage license through studying at IPSB School of Integrative Psycho-Structural Bodywork in Santa Monica.
