Workshop Description:
Learn to break the rules of traditional clay by using paper clay. Clay with fibers has been used for many years by ceramic sculptors for its flexibility and resilience. Join me to learn some basic knowledge and properties of paper clay.In this class students will learn how to prepare their own paper clay and how to play with paper clay slip such as adding stains/oxides, slip trailing, and dipping organic materials to create initial form/textures. Students will also be taught some basic coil/slab/pinching techniques to build structures. All levels are welcome.

About the Instructor:
Myung Ahn was born and raised in Jin-ju, South Korea and moved to the US in 2002. Ahn has been making ceramic works since 2015, and he recently finished an MFA degree at Montana State University in 2023.

Required Materials:
- Basic ceramics tools. If you are flying or unable to bring any tools
- the MAC will have some available to borrow.
