In this two day ceramic workshop, we will explore ways to combine wheelthrowing and hand building techniques to create domestic objects and forms.

We will be spending the first day of the workshop exploring and experimenting with several construction techniques, both wheel throwing and hand building— such as, pinching, coiling, darting and soft slab construction. On the second day of the workshop we will freely explore various surface embellishing techniques and materials with colored slips and underglazes. Emphasis will be on marrying form and service through texture, pattern and color, filled with personal language and meaning, to tell our stories and, at the same time, create works of intrigue and intimate beauty

Much of my demonstration will be spent on construction and service development. There will be an ample time for the participants to build their own work in between demos. We will work side by side!

Student materials list: Notepad and pen or pencil
