Workshop Description:
Comics don't necessarily have to be about superheroes or villians but they can also be an expression for everyday life. This workshop will allow you to mine from your own personal experiences and create a comic that helps actualize your own perspective and feelings through visual and written creation as abstract or concrete as you'd like. We will be using colored pencils and graphic micron pens. If you'd like to bring your own materials, you are welcome to. I will be showing some personal techniques and guide you to tap into your own storytelling self, which we are all capable of. No drawing experience is required - only the strong want to express yourself! As this workshop has also a written component, it may be helpful to bring a draft of what you'd like to convey, or at least an idea. Please bring your own photo references, if applicable to your narrative.

About the Instructor:
Yerrie Choo (b. 1991, Oakland, CA) creates visual and written work that confront existential yet comforting themes, unseen energies in a room, deep grief navigation, and the complications of how we are placed in the world. Choo mines from personal experiences to translate complex emotions into something digestible and hopefully be more comfortable with existence.

Required Materials:
- first draft of written component of comic OR at least an idea (instructor can help with this too
- if needed), photo references if helpful
