CLASS DESCRIPTION

We will be spending the first day of the workshop exploring and experimenting with several construction techniques, both wheelthrowing and handbuilding--such as, pinching, coiling, darting and soft slab construction.  We will spend the second day of the workshop exploring various surface embellishing techniques and materials, namely, colored slips and underglazes.  Emphasis will be on marrying form and surface through texture, pattern and color, filled with personal language and meaning, to create works of intrigue and intimate beauty.

Much classroom time will be spent on construction and surface development.  This short two day workshop will not include hands-on time for the students but will focus on demonstrations and the learning of these techniques.
