Mendocino Art Center Youth Arts Collaboration: MAC + Flockworks

Exciting Beginnings: MAC Welcomes Young Minds from Fort Bragg

In a delightful kick-off to a visionary collaboration with Flockworks, under our Strategic Plan for Youth Art Education, the Mendocino Art Center was abuzz with youthful exuberance and creativity this past month. Our esteemed guests, a bright assembly of 1st and 2nd graders from the Kudos Redwood Elementary program, embarked on an enriching journey into the world of art, right here at MAC.

Under the expert guidance of our dedicated Youth Art Coordinator and Instructor, Julie Karlonas, the young artists dove into the fascinating realm of mono-printing. Each student, with a brush in hand, explored a myriad of styles and techniques, unraveling their inner creative spirits. The air was filled with the joyful noise of imagination taking flight, as vibrant prints emerged, each telling a unique story.

This memorable visit marks the commencement of a 12-week program, a testament to MAC's commitment to nurturing art education within our community. In alliance with the innovative team at Flockworks, we are thrilled to craft a tapestry of studio art classes that will enrich the lives of Fort Bragg's students.

As the first leaves of this budding partnership unfurl, we at MAC are filled with hope and excitement. We envision this initiative as a seedling that will grow into a flourishing tree, under whose shade many generations of young artists will find inspiration, mentorship, and a space to blossom.

Stay tuned for more stories of inspiration and collaboration, as we weave together a future where art and community unite, creating a vibrant tapestry of creativity and learning for the youth of Mendocino County.
