WINCHI DE JESUS, interdisciplinary

My practice is heavily influenced by my tendency to daydream. Visualizing, feeling, and experiencing moments as if they were really there. This reveals itself through my creation of perfectly imperfect pictures, objects and adornment. By implementing repetition, this allows me to sit with the feelings a piece is inspired by, and release them in an intuitive way. Over the years I’ve familiarized myself with the lost wax and vacuum casting processes, and have gained a deep admiration for working with wax. As it melts, it reminds me of intimacy and the body. Recently, glass has given me a similar reaction. I hope to expand my growth in these processes and reconnect with my other interests: photography (analogue and cyanotypes), ceramics, and collaborative works, during my time at the Mendocino Art Center.
