17th Annual home & garden tour

Cynthia's Garden & Glass Etching Studio

Being a self-employed artist, I find that at the end of a long day working with glass, that digging and planting and caring for my garden is my reward... many of my customers that have come to my studio over the years stop and explore before entering the showroom where they will find some of those same plants used for the designs that I sandblast on blown glass vases, wine glasses, and doors and windows.

Look for the Antique red rose that stands at the gate to the vegetable garden, this rose has been a joy for years. The Corkscrew Willow will be hard to miss and provides a very nice view of the wild transitional pygmy forest in the back that is peppered with wild Rhododendron blossoms, and you can see the ridge of coastal forest that is home to nesting Osprey. There is a lovely large picnic table, and under the willow is a perfect place for you to enjoy your box lunch in the garden.

I have two lawns in the back yard bordered by flowers, Ferns, Dahlias, Agapantha, and a large Cardoon. At the end of the lawn is an arbor that supports a beautiful meandering Kiwi mixed with a rambling yellow rose. The garden has a free form to it, and is a bit on the wild side. Viburnum, Flax, Roses Geraniums, Bamboos, Maples, Birch, Grapes, Iris, lily, Butterfly and Princess bushes, and too may more to list, grow together in several areas around the studio and house.

In the front yard is another table that faces the house and front lawn with many roses and a variety of flowering plants and beautiful Montana Clematis that hangs at the roofline of my house. Inspired by glass blower Dale Chihuly and his amazing garden shows. I will display my etched glass artwork in the gardens amongst the flowers, in addition to the showroom.
