The Youth Art Program is expanding!

Fall Art for Children at the Mendocino Art Center

Session I Clay Works
Tuesdays: August 29 - October 3rd
3:30 - 5:00 PM
$210

Students will learn some basic hand-building methods including coil, pinch, and slab to create tiles, pots, masks, and more! More advanced students will be able to work on their own projects (ages 5 and up)

Session II Paper Mâché Extravaganze
Tuesdays: October 10 - November 14
3:30 - 5:00 PM
$210

Paper Mâché is not just for paper! We will use a variety of materials including paper, fabric, and yarn to create bowls, masks, sculptures & more! (5 & up)

Toddler Time
Tuesdays: August 29 - October 3
10:00 - 11:00 AM
$120

Come experience the wonderful world of art and exploration with your toddler. Each week we will focus on five different art disciplines, and a variety of kinesthetic activities in a nurturing and positive environment (ages 2 - 5)

Fall Art for Children at the Mendocino Art Center

Session I An Introduction to 3D Materials
Thursdays: August 31 - October 5th
1:00-4:00 PM

Each week we will focus on a different art material, and how people have used these materials to meet their Fundamental Human Needs (one of which is to create art). The children will then have the opportunity to use some of the very same materials that prehistoric and ancient people have used to create art.
Session I will include working with: Stone, Wood, Plants, Fiber, Clay and Metal.

Session II An Introduction to 3D Materials Part II
Thursdays: October 12th - November 16th
1:00-4:00 PM

Session II will be a continuum of an introduction to 3D Materials. From there we will look at how contemporary artists use 3D materials to create works of art.
Session II will include working with: Glass, Plexiglass, Paper, Printmaking, Assemblage, and Plaster.

The Jewelry/Metals Studio is a great community resource that has lots of great tools and equipment that is there for your use and benefit.

Life Drawing Open Studio

Wednesdays from 1:30 to 4:30 pm in the Stevenson Studio
$15 per session (pay as you draw) cash or check to: the Mendocino Figure Drawing Collective (MFDC)

What to bring:
drawing board
paper - newsprint, Acid-free drawing paper, sketchbook, etc.
charcoal, charcoal pencils, kneaded eraser, etc. whatever you like
easel -if you have one ( easels and tables available)

No formal instruction. Assistance available upon request
